I just wanted to let you know how much my family & I enjoyed the Lynchburg Beer & Wine Festival. It was a GREAT afternoon  and we especially liked the fact that both beer and wine were available for  sampling, along with some food items.  This opened up the festival to a larger  group of people.  I have been to the wine festival at Tanglewood Park in Winston-Salem, NC and I can honestly say that Lynchburg’s was definitely of that  same caliber. I hope that you will make this an annual event.

A beautiful day, a great crowd, quality vendors and wineries…all the ingredients for a great event.  Thanks for the opportunity  to participate!

This was our very first festival (Lynchburg Beer & Wine Festival) and did not really know what to expect; but at the end of  the day we were very happy with the whole event.  We had a blast and really appreciated all of the great compliments from festival crowd. We will be back next year for sure.

I was actually blown away by the Lynchburg Beer and Wine Festival. We had a great time and the atmosphere was really friendly and festive. As a vendor, I was most impressed by the organization of the event and look forward to being a part of this fun festival again.

I think you guys ran a top notch event.  You can count on Upper Crust whenever you need a pizza vendor…even if it’s not a big event.  Just say
when and where and we will be there!  Thanks again for allowing Upper Crust to be a part of your event, and I look forward to many more.
Michael

Thank you for the opportunity to join you all at this year's Lynchburg Beer and Wine Festival.  The music, location and patrons were all great!  We really appreciate you all limiting duplication of food items and number of vendors.  These issues are most important to concession vendors.  We hope to join you next year and look forward to your other events.

Great Festival!  We look forward to the ones coming up. Without a doubt, put us down for 2013.
Bob

We hope you have recovered from a great show.  Congrats to you and your wonderful staff.  We just wanted to thank you for inviting us to this event.  We believe we are a positive addition to the events we attend.   We enjoy making new friends and new contacts, which we did Saturday.  Please keep us in mind for any events you think would be appropriate for us.  This event is a premier event which deserves the best vendors.  Again, thanks so very much and congratulations on a terrific event.
Wishing you all the best always.

Thousands tap it out at Lynchburg Beer & Wine Festival

Ashlie Walter, September 21, 2014  The News & Advance

Thousands of people milled around Lynchburg City Stadium on Saturday afternoon to sample some of the best local breweries and vineyards have to offer at the fifth annual Lynchburg Beer and Wine Festival.

Typically the one-day festival brings in thousands of guests — and attendance has grown rapidly since the first festival in 2010.

The event drew not only local breweries but also the mobile Budweiser Brewmaster Tour for the first time at the festival. The tour will visit more than three dozen cities through fall 2014.

“We’ve had 300 to 400 people come through. We are out to educate the consumer on how the beer is made, see the ingredients, we even have actual wheat and barley out,” said Brewmaster Ambassador Chad Griffin.

Attendees were given a walkthrough of how Budweiser beer is made from the mashing to the actual brewing. Griffin said the tour is a “sensual experience” in seeing, smelling and tasting how the beer is made.

On the local-beer front, David Grizzard, planning engineer for Devil’s Backbone Brewing Company, said this was his first year working the festival.

“We are very busy. It gets good craft beer to people who might not normally try it,” he said.

Festivals such as Saturday’s are a good time to drum up new business, Grizzard said.

For unique experience, attendees could taste beer and wine in one place. Lazy DaysWinery from Amherst offered customers a special sangria, which was also well loved by buzzing bees. Owner John Fitzhugh said with both beverage options there tends to be more drinking than buying, but a good amount of people came to taste his wine.

“It's our local home base, and it’s very convenient for people,” he said.

Lazy Days also hosts Sangria Saturdays at their vineyard and a Summer Solstice celebration.

Attendees who purchased a sampling admission ticket Saturday were given a blue wristband limiting them to 10 beer samples. Wine samples, however, were endless (within reason). Connoisseurs flocked to wine tasting tables to swirl, sniff and sip.

Many local artisans and craftsmen had their wares on sale for people not wanting to drink but still have fun. People lounged on chairs and blankets, listening to Jenny and the B-Side Rockers, Jerry Wimmer Trio, Dragonfly, and Superhold.

Designated drivers were offered free water and sodas, and local police officers attended to ensure everyone returned home safely.

Thousands Come Out To Third Annual Wine And Beer Fest

Thousands converged on Riverfront Park Saturday with glasses in hand, ready for hours of music and tasting at the third annual Lynchburg Beer and Wine Festival.

The event draws brewers and attendees from across the country.

“Hotels have filled up,” said Kim Jennings, an organizer for the event. “It’s not just for local people.”

The Lynchburg area is home to many wineries and breweries. While wine festivals are plentiful, festival organizers noticed a need to combine the beverages together for a daylong celebration.

“It was just something Lynchburg didn’t have,” Jennings said. “It was very well received.”

Since 2010, the event has grown by thousands each year. Jennings said she expected 8,000 to 10,000 attendees Saturday.

“We’re running out of real estate,” Jennings said. “You can’t grow much more.”

Representatives from more than 20 wineries and breweries arrived with bottles and heavy kegs. Even with that many, lines were long to sample the drinks.

“It’s been so much fun to be here,” said Lee John, owner of the Apocalypse Brewing Company.

John and her husband are working to establish a brewpub, a combined restaurant and brewery,in Forest. They hope to open Dec 21, the day some people believe the world will end based on the ancient Mayan calendar.

“Let’s celebrate the end of the world together with good beer,” John quipped.

Attendees who purchased a sampling admission ticket Saturday were given a green wristband limiting them to 10 beer samples. However, wine samples were endless (within reason). Connoisseurs flocked to wine tasting tables to swirl, sniff and sip.

“We love to do wine festivals,” said John Glass, an employee of Leo Grande Vineyards and Winery. “It helps get our name out there.”

Glass said the winery has offered wine for nearly 10 years. Fragile Italian grapes are spread out across the15 acres along Wingfield Drive in Goode.

“We grow some grapes that other wineries won’t even attempt,” Glass said.

Visitors not looking to drink had an opportunity to explore the works of many local artisans and craftsmen. Bands including Dragonfly, the Love Canon String Band and The Jangling Reinharts offered music throughout the day. Some people listened from chairs and blankets. Others danced in front of the stage.

Designated drivers were offered free water and sodas, and local police officers attended to ensure everyone returned home safely.
